Title: Bowman table

Wood Species/Finish:  Solid Walnut/ Stain and Lacquer

Designed/ Made: January 2017

Dimensions:  30" tall, 30" deep, 64" long

Design Elements: Solid wood construction throughout. Legs are joined to rails with traditional mortise and tenon joinery that is reinforced with draw-bore pins. Leg shape goes from square at the top to deeply faceted bottoms that give the sense of movement. The solid Walnut top has a slight under bevel and is held to the frame with furniture maker buttons. There is a hidden drawer in the table that is activated with a touch latch mechanism.

Notes:  This piece was a commission for a private client. The goal was to create a table that could function as both a dinning table, and a desk for office work. The drawer was included in the design as a space to store office supplies. The draw was kept thin so that the table rail didn't indicate a drawer. The drawer face was sawn out of the rail to create a seamless grain orientation and therefore a  more subtle look.
